Riccardo Calafiori: "I think I deserve my place here with these players"
Bologna defender speaks on current role and ambitions

After a difficult start to life at the Dall'Ara, Riccardo Calafiori is now beginning to find his feet in Bologna's defence. The 20-year-old left-back joined the Rossoblu from Roma in the summer of 2022, but struggled to make an impact in his first few months at the club. However, he has recently been given a chance to impress in a more central role, and has taken it with both hands.
In a recent interview with Calciomercato, Calafiori spoke about his new role and his ambitions for the future.
"I think I deserve my place here with these players," said Calafiori.
"I've worked hard to get to this point, and I'm not going to give up now. I want to keep improving and helping the team to achieve its goals."
Calafiori's performances have not gone unnoticed by the Italy national team selectors. The defender has been called up to the Under-21 squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers, and he is hoping to make his debut for the senior team in the near future.
"It would be a dream to play for Italy," said Calafiori. "I'm going to keep working hard and hopefully one day I'll get my chance."
