Neymar Suffers ACL Tear, Meniscus Injury in World Cup Qualifying Match

Injury Sidelines Al-Hilal Forward

Surgery Required, Recovery Expected to Take Months

Brazilian superstar Neymar has torn the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay, his club Al-Hilal has confirmed.

Neymar, 31, was forced to leave the field in the fourth minute of the match after suffering the injury. He was in tears as he was stretchered off the pitch.

The injury is a major setback for Neymar, who recently joined Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Brazilian forward had been in impressive form for his new club, scoring four goals in five appearances.

Al-Hilal said in a statement that Neymar will undergo surgery to repair the torn ligaments. The club did not provide a timeline for his recovery, but it is expected to take several months.

The injury is a blow to Brazil's hopes of winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Neymar is the team's captain and leading scorer.

Neymar's injury will also be a disappointment to Al-Hilal fans, who were eager to see him play for their team in the AFC Champions League.
