Real Salt Lake v Portland Timbers: Neville backs 'MVP level' Evander for more success

Real Salt Lake coach Pablo Mastroeni has praised Evander for his performance in the 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers, saying that the Brazilian midfielder is capable of even greater things.

Evander scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute, curling a free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards out. It was his fourth goal of the season, and he has also provided five assists.

Mastroeni said that Evander is a "special player" who has the potential to be one of the best in MLS.

"He's a player who can change games," Mastroeni said. "He's got great vision, he can pass the ball, he can score goals, and he can create chances for others.

"He's still young, but he's already shown that he has the quality to be a top player. I think he can be an MVP-level player in this league."

Evander has been one of the most consistent performers for Real Salt Lake this season, and he has played a key role in the team's success.

Real Salt Lake are currently third in the Western Conference, and they are in contention for a playoff spot. Evander will be key to their hopes of success, and Mastroeni is confident that he can continue to improve.

"I think he's only going to get better," Mastroeni said. "He's still learning the game, but he's got all the tools to be a great player.

"I'm excited to see what he can achieve in the future."
