Gta V Gta Online Highlights Steam Decks Verification System Has Problems

GTA V / GTA Online highlights Steam Deck's verification system has problems

Valve working on fix to allow more games to run on the handheld device

The Steam Deck has been a huge hit since its launch in February, but one of its biggest selling points has also been one of its biggest problems: its verification system.

The verification system is designed to let users know which games will run well on the Steam Deck, which games will require some tweaking, and which games won't run at all.

Unfortunately, the verification system has been plagued by problems since its launch. Many games that should be playable on the Steam Deck have been marked as unsupported, while some games that shouldn't be playable have been marked as playable.

GTA V / GTA Online issues

One of the most high-profile examples of the verification system's problems is Grand Theft Auto V / GTA Online. These games are both extremely popular and should be able to run well on the Steam Deck.

However, GTA V / GTA Online are currently marked as unsupported on the Steam Deck. This is because the games require a Rockstar Games Social Club account to play, and the Steam Deck does not currently support Rockstar Games Social Club.

Valve is working on a fix to allow more games to run on the Steam Deck, including GTA V / GTA Online. However, it is not clear when this fix will be released.

How to check if a game is verified for the Steam Deck

In the meantime, you can check if a game is verified for the Steam Deck by visiting the game's Steam Store page.

On the game's Steam Store page, scroll down to the "System Requirements" section. Under the "Steam Deck Compatibility" heading, you will see one of the following icons:

  • Verified: The game is fully compatible with the Steam Deck.
  • Playable: The game is playable on the Steam Deck, but may require some tweaking.
  • Unsupported: The game is not playable on the Steam Deck.

What to do if a game is not verified for the Steam Deck

If a game is not verified for the Steam Deck, you may still be able to play it on the handheld device. However, you may need to tweak the game's settings or use a third-party tool to get it working.

There are a number of resources available online that can help you get games running on the Steam Deck. You can also check out the Steam Deck subreddit for help and support.
