Diana Taurasi Had Three Words To Describe Aja Wilson After Historic Performance

Diana Taurasi's A'ja Wilson Praise, Explained

"A'ja Wilson is the best player in the world right now."

Byline

Diana Taurasi, a future Hall of Famer in her 19th WNBA season, had three words to describe South Carolina product and 2020 No. 1 overall pick A'ja Wilson after she put up a staggering 30 points, 19 rebounds, and five assists in the Las Vegas Aces' 85-71 Game 1 win over the Seattle Storm in the 2022 Commissioner's Cup Finals.

Wilson's performance was nothing short of historic, as she became just the second player in WNBA history to record a 30-point, 15-rebound, and 5-assist game in the playoffs.

The only other player to accomplish this feat was Taurasi herself, who did so in 2009. The Aces star did not mince words in her postgame interview, stating that Wilson is "the best player in the world right now."

Analysis

There's no question that Wilson is one of the most dominant players in the WNBA, and her performance in Game 1 of the Commissioner's Cup Finals was a perfect example of why.

At 6'4", Wilson has a size advantage over most of her opponents, but she also has the athleticism and skill to take advantage of that size.

She can score in the post, hit the mid-range jumper, and even knock down the occasional three-pointer. She's also a great rebounder and defender.

In short, Wilson has all the tools to be a superstar in the WNBA, and she's only 26 years old.

If she continues to improve, there's no telling how good she can be.

What's Next?

The Aces and the Storm will face off in Game 2 of the Commissioner's Cup Finals on Thursday, July 28th.

Wilson will be looking to continue her dominant play, and help the Aces win their first Commissioner's Cup title.
