Giants Finally Break Out the Bats After Being Shut Out Twice in Bronx

The San Francisco Giants finally broke out their bats on Monday night, bunching together four hits in the fifth inning to take a 4-0 lead over the Chicago White Sox.

The Giants had been shut out twice over Opening Weekend in the Bronx, but they wasted no time getting on the board against the White Sox.

In the first inning, Mike Yastrzemski singled and Brandon Belt doubled to put runners on second and third with nobody out.

But White Sox starter Lucas Giolito struck out the next three batters to get out of the inning.

The Giants finally broke through in the fifth inning.

With one out, Austin Slater singled and Mike Tauchman walked.

Brandon Crawford then singled in Slater to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.

After Belt was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Brandon Belt doubled to give the Giants a 4-0 lead and chase Giolito from the game.

The White Sox got one run back in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Gavin Sheets, but the Giants bullpen held on to secure the 4-1 victory.

Logan Webb Goes 5 Strong Innings

Giants starter Logan Webb went 5 strong innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits.

He struck out 7 batters and walked 2.
