Former Player And Current Manager

Steve Clarke Appointed Scotland Manager for EURO 2024

Former Player and Current Manager

Stephen Clarke, born 29th August 1963, is a Scottish professional football manager and former player. Currently, he holds the position of manager for the Scotland national team.

Missed Playing Opportunity, Found Success as Manager

Clarke faced disappointment as a player when Scotland qualified for back-to-back EURO tournaments in 1992 and 1996, as he did not make the cut. However, he has since compensated for this by agreeing to remain Scotland's head coach until 2026. Clarke believes he has developed into a more effective people manager.

Success Amidst Challenges

Despite his unassuming demeanor, the 57-year-old from Saltcoats in Ayrshire has triumphed where six others before him have struggled.
