**USGS Releases Major Update to Latest Earthquakes Web Application** The National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC), a part of the US Geological Survey (USGS), has announced a major update to its Latest Earthquakes web application. The update includes the following improvements: * **Real-time and near-real-time data:** The application now displays information in real-time and near-real-time for magnitude 2.5 earthquakes in the US. * **Legacy application:** If the main application does not load, users can now access a legacy version to view data for past earthquakes. * **Increased flexibility:** The application now allows users to customize the earthquake data they view, including magnitude, time range, and location. Significant earthquakes include: * **Magnitude 3.7 earthquake near Fairview, Alaska:** This earthquake occurred at 12:20 PM AKST on April 22, 2023. It was felt by residents in the area, but no damage has been reported. * **Magnitude 3.5 earthquake near Mammoth Lakes, California:** This earthquake occurred at 9:15 AM PST on April 22, 2023.
